The Impotance of Individuality

I recently read an article written for the future about the importance of individuality and diversity in the human race and the uniqueness of every person being taken away from them and leaving them with a horrible, or so it seems, life.
In the article, the future “government” has found a way to keep the society equal so they can all live in peace and harmony. It sounds like a great idea in the beginning, no wars, no fights, equal rights, and equality among all people. Then we find out that the peace has not been created naturally. The government requires the smarter people to wear handicapper radios in their ears at all times to keep them from thinking too hard about something or too long. All of the “prettier people” wears masks over their faces, the fast runners wear bags of lead balls atop their shoulders and etc..
The society does not realize that they are being robbed of their creativity, talent and knowledge because of the “handicaps” that they are given. This is not a good thing because the diversity of the world shapes our growth and understanding of life. Our minds need to mature and have room to improve so that our world can benefit from our achievements and new found knowledge.
Also the author implies the thought of having a “perfect” world filled with “perfect” living beings. The definition of perfect differs among all people and so no one person that is “perfect” to one person is perfect to another. Everyone has their flaws and imperfections as well as “perfections” that make them unique to the world and society. There may be a small understanding of the perfect person among all the people in the world and a small understanding of the qualities that make up the perfect person but everyone’s idea changes slightly from the next. No one is born perfect, and this story shows us that we can’t change people to form and shape themselves to be the perfect person without taking away some of their personality and soul. Everyone is made differently and that’s what makes life so interesting and complicated. You cant keep a person from being who they are, and who they were born to be.
